Bird Watching Tour in Bhutan

Bhutan is the world's ten top bio-diversity hotspots. Environmental conservation and deforestation are strictly monitored by the government. Bhutan is a land-locked country surrounded by mountains. The sparsely populated Greater Himalayas in the northern part of Bhutan bordering the Tibetan plateau, reach heights of over 7,300 m. and extend southward losing height, to form the fertile valleys of the Lesser Himalayas divided by the Wang, Sunkosh, Trongsa and Manas Rivers. Monsoon influences promote dense forestation in this region and alpine growth at higher altitudes.

" the Black-necked crane, Grus nigricollis, is one of the world's rarest and least known crane, which traditionally winters in Phobjikha and Bomdiling valleys in Central and Eastern Bhutan.
" the Rufous-necked hornbill, Acesor nipalensis, is rare and declining, but is quite common in Bhutan's evergreen tropical and subtropical forests.
" the White-bellied heron, Ardea insignis, found along rivers and lakes in dense, broadleaved forests.
" the Chestnut-breasted partridge, Arborophila rufogularis, found in the undergrowth in dense broadleaved, evergreen forest around Shemgang District.
