Upper Dolpo Trek 24 Days
Dolpo is the most remote and
least developed district in Nepal. Although a few anthropologists and
geographers had explored the reason, the
entire district was closed to
trekkers until 1989 when the southern part of Dolpo was opened to organized
trekking groups. In 1990 individual trekkers were allowed into the region if
they obtained a special permits and did a bit of bureaucratic run-around.
There are no tea houses along the route to Dolpo. Trekkers who had trekked
here and bought food in villages, you would be far better off in Dolpo with
a fully equipped trek.
This section describes the trek from Jumla to Dunai, side trips to Phoksundo Lake and Tarap, and an alternate high route ove the Kagmara La to the Dolpo district. There is also an out line of a trek from Pokhara to Dolpo. All these trips could be combined into one long trek of 25 days to 30 days, from Pokhara to Jumla Via Dolpo.
