Yala Trek Peak 13 days

The Langtang Valley is located some 30km (19 miles) directly north of Kathmandu, close to the boundary with Tibet. Extending in an east-west direction, it is bordered on the north by the main crest of the Himalaya, dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245m) the highest peak in the area. To the south are the Chimse Danda ridge, crossed by Ganja La pass (5,122m) and the Jugal Himal culminating in Dorje Lakpa.

Glaciers spawned by the slopes of Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung and other peaks feed the Langtang khola river. This stream winds its way through the high, gentle Langtang Valley before emptying in a raging torrent into the Bhote Kosi river through a long, narrow defile at the west end of the valley. After an ascent of Kyangjin Ri, from where the 360 degree mountain views are truly spectacular, we retrace our route back down the valley to Syabru Bensi and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Just north of the gompa is the high camp of Yala Peak (4800m.) The mountain scenery at the gompa is breathtaking. More..........
